The
Siobhanathon 2006
The first Siobhanathon was held on a sunny weekend in
June 2006. The pub we held it at, The White Horse in Broom, Bedfordshire was a
perfect site for our fist event. Great setting, great hosts and the atmosphere
was second to none.
We didn’t have the turnout we had hoped for, but
those that turned up had a fantastic time, and we hope they will return next
year for an even bigger and better party.
Sadly Siobhan and her family were unable to attend due
to Chevie’s ill health, but her spirit was with us the whole weekend.
The band that played for us, ‘Full Rokcovery’, gave
an outstanding performance, and the crowd had a fantastic time dancing to their
tunes.
The two burger wagons kept us all well fed, and Lisa
and Deb supplied us all with the best breakfast we had had in ages. Those girls
worked their socks off, bless ‘em.
We had an autojumble, which Martin supplied, and a
stall selling all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff.
Creature supplied the disco, which ran until the early
hours of Sunday morning. That man can certainly keep the crowd dancing, and he
made sure the party went with a bang.
Only one person spoilt the weekend, a local rugby
player, who refused to pay his entry fee! He crept in later in the evening,
still not paying his entry fee, so was given a fat lip by one of the organisers
(no names mentioned………….).
The weather held out for us, even though we had a
slight downpour on the Saturday afternoon. It was actually a relief for Gary and
Juke, as it cooled us down a bit!
The first Siobhanathon was a huge success, and Ł1800
was raised by the few who attended.
These peole gave Chevie the cash she needed to put
towards her holiday n Florida.
We, Gary and Juke, would like to thank all those who
attended, and hope you all come back next year to party again, and raise a few
pounds for another child who so rightly deserves a break from this awful illness
that takes so many innocent lives.
Words by Juke.
