Siobhan Shearer ( chevie )

16.03.98 - 16.03.07

Sadly Siobhan lost her battle with cancer and has left us.    Sleep well little princess.

The little girl that started all this madness.

The first ever Siobhanathon was held in 2006 to help make Chevy's dream of going to Disneyland Florida come true.

Siobhan Shearer.

16.03.98 – 16.03.07

We first met Siobhan, or Chevie as we knew her, in the spring of 2006. We were introduced to her via a bike magazine forum that we were both members of. A friend of Chevie’s Dad had posted a few words on her fight against cancer, and thought it would be a good idea to try and raise a few pennies to make her dream come true. Her dream was to go to Disneyland in Florida.

We decided to book a band in a local pub, invite a few friends along, hold a raffle and see what we could raise for the fund pot. The idea of a band night in a pub, grew to the idea of a one day biker rally. So many people wanted to help this wee girl, and the one day rally turned into a full blown event. The details of this can be found on the ‘events’ page.

Chevie really was a child in a million. She touched the hearts of everyone who met her, and I for one, feel so lucky to have had that privilege. She has become my inspiration for days when life seems a little hard. When I think of the pain and discomfort this wee girl suffered in her few short years, I think my life is a blessing.

Chevie fought her cancers with courage and dignity, never once complaining of her pain. She would often get annoyed at us when we shed a tear for her, saying it was ‘no big deal’, but to us it was a mountain for her to climb.

I became very close to Chevie in the year that I knew her. I loved her very much, and her family have become close and treasured friends.

Chevie lost her fight against her cancer on her 9th birthday, 16th March 2007.  This seems a very cruel blow to a child who fought with such gutso, only to lose her battle in the end.

We feel Chevie was here for a reason, and that was to help us all understand how devastating a disease cancer is. To inspire people like us to help other children and their families who suffer with this awful illness.

Chevie will live on in every Siobhanathon we do, and in our hearts forever.

Rest in Peace sweet Chevie. We love and miss you, now and always.
